Super Bowl 47 is Quickly Approaching!

Can you guess what the most watched sporting event is each and every year? If you guessed the Super Bowl, you’re correct!

For the first time in the history of the NFL, both head coaches in the Super Bowl are brothers.  Both Jim and John Harbaugh have done an incredible job in turning their programs around, and obviously having enough success to lead them to the Super Bowl.  Jim Harbaugh has really turned the San Francisco 49ers around, and turned them into a force in the NFL. The Ravens have always been a defensive force but John Harbaugh has turned them into a very well rounded team with a dangerous running game in Ray Rice.  This game could come down to which-ever kicker is having a better day.  The Ravens have a rookie kicker who can be inconsistent at times and the 49ers have David Akers a veteran kicker following one of his best years as been inconsistent at best this year.  Both teams have impeccable defenses with unpredictable offenses.

When planning your Super Bowl party, it’s important to provide your guests with food and snacks during the game.  Creamy cheese artichoke and spinach dip are popular game day dishes that are sure to be a hit at your party! When the game is over, it’s time for dessert.  It can be easy to turn your favorite type of cake into the shape of a football or football field.  All you need is the right frosting and a creative mind.  This year’s game should be a great one and if you are planning a party you should contact Mr. Party Pooper, supplier of colorful portable toilets for any occasion!

Do You Have a Resolution for 2013?

Mr. Party Pooper

It’s that time of the year again, New Year Resolutions!  Over the next few days you might hear some of you friends and family say, this year I’m going to do __________, or more of _________.

The majority of people make resolutions regarding personal improvements, health or money related goals.  But what do the greatest minds and makers plan for their New Year’s Resolutions?  Thanks to Wired.com they have compiled a list of the Top 10 Minds and Makers and their Resolutions.

Bruce Sterling:  “In the New Year, makers should develop the new means of maker finance, distribution and publicity: meaning the likes of Kickstarter, Etsy and the tech-art and design blogs.”

Bre Pettis, Entrepreneur:  “I resolve to get MakerBots into the hands of creative explorers, innovators and inventors so they can innovate faster and make the world a better place.”

Limor Fried, founder of Adafruit Industries:  #1- “We all need to create more tutorials and videos for learning.”  #2- “Let’s get more kids involved.  For our part, we’re going to do a kid’s online program called “Circuit Playground”…”

Adam Greenfield, managing director of Urbanscale:  “Always remember that “disruptive” is entitled bs, that “creative destruction” is still destruction.  We will find new way of doing, thinking and being, surely, but I believe we can and must work toward these ends without screwing over in the process.”

Diana Eng, innovator in fashion market:  #1- “Repurpose old technology to create new things.” #2- “Better document my efforts.”

Albert Chao, architecture and tech designer:  “STOP 3-D PRINTING THINGS. This year, I will embark on a different tact and return to “traditional” forms of making.”

Anab Jain, founder of Superflux: #1- “Make, Do and Mend More.”  #2- “At Superflux, we’d like to continue to expand our “making” skills and knowledge by experimenting with new technologies and processes.”

Alex Leitch, runs the Site 3 Colaboratory:  #1- “Better documentation! Man, I am the worst at documenting. I would like to be able to release an archive of “Hot To Do (x)” to support each of my projects, since they have so many moving parts and so much iteration.”  #2- “For others, I’d saying straight up: Get to Work! Seriously, it’s not that hard to Do Things.  Assume you’re creative already, and good at what you do, and the rest will follow.”

Alice Taylor, CEO of MakieLab:  #1- “I’m going to make a personal resolution to make, build, mend and fix as many things as I possibly can in the next 12 months.”  #2- “I’m going to print something on our work Makerbot Replicator at 80 microns.”

AnnMarie Thomas, director of the Maker Education Initiative:  #1- “Take time to work on my own projects, ranging from a dress I keep promising myself that I’ll finish, to a series of partially complete pop-up images.”  #2- “Teach more!”
